happy everyday of july (so far)

I was going to make a 4th of july blog but after i "cleaned out" the camera, i figured i'd just throw everything (the 4th, the weekend, surrounding days) into one.  We've been having lots of fun.  summer is here, along with all the fun it brings =).

My mom came over and we had a ladies salon day =).  i cut linda's bangs, she did naia's pigtails and she cut my hair.  we all came out looking better than one may have predicted!

oh, and somewhere along the line, i made this cake.  I took a class in fondant and gum paste and this was the final product-- so fun!

and this is from this morning at lanes cove. naia likes to put the row rows in the water, and throw rocks of course. She also walks all the way up to her chest in this water... a lot more than i can say for her mama.... its WICKED cold! (but i'm working on it)

oh yeah, and the big shot is 20 months old today!!

UN trend

We "co sleep" in this family.  It works for us for many reasons.  We like it and we're all happy. Someday naia will sleep in her own bed, but for now, we're all perfectly cozy.

I realize this is not the trend.  but then, we don't tend to go with the trend.  we like to make our choices based on whats best for us and less on their popularity. Though in my experience as a mom, with the topic of co sleeping, it seems that "other people" dislike this practice, especially in certain circles.  Its not really talked about, as if its something to hide.  But, the more moms i get to know, the more it seems that A LOT of families co sleep.  I don't understand the quiet about it though, so i want to repeat, in capital letters, that NAIA SLEEPS IN OUR BED. 

So imagine my surprise when i came across this...
kourtney kardashian's blog

kourtney kardashian is sortof a celebrity and has started blogging for people magazine's "moms and babies" portion of their website.  She also talks about breast feeding and things.  What an unlikely but delightful source for .... i don't know what to call it... support, common ground, encouragement... whatever it is, its QUITE refreshing.
