Our Christmas Miracle

No photos, no wit, no time.

We all know that our little family has been blessed with a christmas miracle in the form of a happy healthy beautiful baby girl, and for that, we couldn't be more grateful. But we have some delicious icing on the miracle cake this morning. I'm checking in to announce that our little angel has given us the best christmas present, just in time for christmas eve AND our mental health: She slept over 7 HOURS last night!! Yes, i said 7, from roughly 11PM to 615AM In fact, i woke her up at 615 (she had started to squirm, but kept falling back asleep and i was just sitting there staring at her crib, waiting...) this morning to feed her, did so, put her back to sleep, where she still is, and i am again waiting for her (which is FINE) at 905 on this beautiful christmas eve morning!

Tune in soon for holiday happenings and naia in some ridiculously cute party attire =)

Happy Holidays til then! And silent nights to all (not to be greedy, but...us to, again, please?!?!) !

still 6 weeks old, for now =)

i REALLY wish this wasnt blurry

she loves him

i know this is a very strange picture. what we are looking at here is the hair growth. for some reason i have a hard time capturing it. here, you see the cowlick... on the nape of neck is A LOT of hair, so much so that we say she looks like an old balding man if you know what i mean. its REALLY cute. now i'll have to get a picture of that.

on one of our walks in the neighborhood with nana. She left last night =). So fun to have her here and sad to see her go!

So now, we are grandparent/visitor-less. We're calling ourselves, our family of four, the "classic gang". We're so lucky that we get dad at home for at least a week....maybe more =), so we can do little family activities with the 6 week old who officially has a free pass for lots of outings! yes, there are two parties coming soon that the classic gang will be attending. i've already starting thinking about her party dresses!

"monkeying" around

Naia has a new favorite outfit. maybe its not HER favorite, but all the adults, for many reasons, love it. And since I told naia that her cousin austin sent it to her, she has been excited to get snapped up in it. Needless to say, its been getting a lot of mileage. Thanks again austin (and her mom).

I must've forgotten to clear the camera again. (i'm a little tired, you see... we tried a party last night, she wasn't really having it, then when we went to "sleep", feedings STARTED every two hours, til about an hour and a half ago... oops, i should probably go now...) more monkey business to come.

A 10 pound island =)

Our Naia is 10 pounds, 22 inches, and in the 75th percentile for both! She did great at the doctor. I'M the one who needs to get better with her getting shots. At least i didn't cry this time.
Sorry no pictures. we're busy growing/feeding/trying-to-keep-up over here. =) Love to you all

duh

almost forgot the most major update:
Naia is no longer a newborn. we got to one month last wednesday (by weeks) or friday (by date), whichever way you look at it. A nice landmark, but oh they grow up so fast....he he.

Happy Sunday!

Hello Naia's fans. Updates on our girl:

** Naia received her first flowers. We were all so happily surprised! Thank you Naia's great aunts and great grandma =)!!

** i don't expect this to be a regular thing. i'll be happy if we get it occassionally these days, but we have a new sleeping, nonfeeding time record: 6 hours. yep thats right. from 430 am to 1030...just now =). Starting at about 7, brooks and i just sat there, staring at her, sitting up straight at attention each time she stirred, grunted, or smiled in her sleep, ready and waiting. i think she could've waited longer, but i sortof couldn't...

** she smiles, A LOT. sometimes in her sleep ( i know, i know, gas...but if letting some out makes her smile, it makes us smile). I even asked her to the other day, and she smiled. i got it on video and everything, but you know my frustration with the video thing. you'll have to take my word for it.

** she makes noises that would put most people i know to shame.

**her eyelashes have gotten LOOOONG!! The hair on her head is growing (NOT falling out) too. its long enough that i brush it (ok, it may not NEED to be brushed, but it can be...)

** she has grown out of some of her clothes =(. not many, but enough for me to feel like time is already going by way too fast. We go to the doctor this week and i am really interested in what her weight will be-- i think it will be an impressive number. tune in after thursday =).

** we had a great visit from grandma and grandpa fleming ( i know, i dont intend to call you guys that, mom and dad...its for identification purposes only). We are sad to have seen them go. But something tells me that we'll see them again soon!

This little outfit made an appearance on the thanksgiving blog, but you may have missed it. It says "stuffed" (which our healthy eater usually is), was given to her by grandma linda, and was her actual thanksgiving outfit. so cute!

** A favorite thing to look at. This is the sun going down from our bedroom window. Any kind of light, she likes....

** She attended her first party! The Hui No'eau, our little art...."place", had its faculty christmas party on friday and we actually made it! She was gawked over by our buddies there and was the "life of the party"; actually, she slept the whole hour and a half we were there, brooks holding her the whole time. Pardon the blur-- this is her party outfit that i LOVE... can you believe the bubble skirt? (than you Aunt Daina!!)

** she's been getting cuter and sweeter by the day.

** And finally, she is looking very forward to meeting grandma nana, annie, anne marie... we'll figure out a definite name soon! we pick her up at the airport this evening and can't wait!

Didnt forget!!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving. I'm still in the full-of-thanks mood--its hard not be around here these days, and i thought, better late than never.

Now before you all tell me this is cruel, our girl LOVED it. not only did she not squirm or fight the outfit, she seemed to really enjoy the attention, you know cause we were laughing smiling and smothering her. The little ham (or pumpkin) was smiling right back. This is not that old, not for halloween, i mean. I missed halloween, and those of you that are loyal readers know that i was REALLY hoping to get her in a halloween costume. We did the next best thing and dressed her up for thanksgiving. Expect this getup to make a cameo NEXT halloween...i really hope she fits into it then, cause the way she's eating...yikes.

With grandma and a real pumpkin and fake pumpkin-looking cupcakes. You know i couldn't let a holiday go by without making some cupcakes that look like something else that no one wants to eat cause of all the weird stuff on them. Yes, i take requests.

It was a great grateful thankful thanksgiving. hope yours was too!
Love, Naia and her parents and her brother, chester
