a little catch up

i'm so sorry i've been slacking on the blog. we're thinking of you all, but being a baby/parent, we are discovering, takes up some time. We are pretty busy around here. Thought we'd just spit out a bunch of pictures for you all. Some are old (these days, 1 week is old), some are older. =)
Here are a few of the things we've been up to:

getting our moxie on... this picture is a little deceiving. "she's got legs" but they aren't really THIS long...

playing frisbee golf in poli poli....

... with the boys

hanging out with Auntie B...

lots of tummy time...

going for some nice long walks... This day, we walked down and back up a pretty long hill in the neighborhood so we could get brooks a six pack from the store =). I made him carry the baby and his beer...

making new friends.... this is dorian. He just turned 2.

they got along smashingly

Chilling in baskets...Naia loves her new fancy portable bed. Really. Brooks thought of this one. We even sometimes toss a laundry basket and blanket in the car for our adventures. The only problem is that we figured this out a little late and she's already too long for it. Do they make long skinny laundry baskets?
it puts the baby in the basket

and of course, taking time out for snuggling...

No pictures for this one, but naia has been growing SO much and SO fast. We are losing cute outfits by the day it seems. Its a little sad actually and i'm holding onto our favorites. The upside to this is we get to model all the stuff that was too big just a little while ago =).

We are a mess

photographically speaking. and there is no time in the day.... As soon as i organize this cluttered desktop, i'll tell, better even, show you what we've been up to.

here's a recent picture. I think i speak for naia when i say that we have HAD IT with the baseball off-season. (We're also getting wary, while we still love him, of Tek taking all this decision making time. it would make us feel better if he would just agree to the great deal, and only one, he's been offered. we would sleep better).

Also, today, Naia is 12 weeks old....too much to say about that, so i'll just say...that =).

How on Earth...

.... did i leave this picture out?

damn auto-focus. its usually great for baby girl's active little self, but here, i just missed the mark. i still think its a keeper.
have i mentioned he's a great dad?

WHY WE'RE STILL ON MAUI

TWO DAYS, TWO BEACHES, ONE VERY SWEET BABY!!

TUESDAY

DAD TAKING NAIA FOR HER FIRST DIP...

...IN TAVARES BAY

MY FAVORITE LITTLE FACE

TUMMY TIME ISN'T BAD WHEN ITS LIKE THIS =)

LOUNGING

WEDNESDAY:
HANAMANU, AKA BLACK SAND BEACH
WE GOT SO MANY GREAT PICTURES, IM JUST GONNA PUT A BUNCH UP. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET SOME PRINTS.

i think we were making up for MONDAY -- Naia got shots and brooks was the only one who didnt cry -- we did NOT take any pictures of that event. Its now THURSDAY and we are having a home day. attempting to clean the house, organize things, etc, but really just taking turns snuggling with our little girl.

a new list

So since the last time i listed things,

*Naia has had her first ingrown toenail. Very weird. She's gotten over the worst of it =) and its looking great and much less painful, swollen, and red. A folded bandaid looks REALLY cute on her left big toe.

*I think ive mentioned how i sing XM radio to her all the time. New favorites include Phil collins (solo or as the genesis front man), classic rock and soft (is that the word?) r&b/rap.

*She was 2 months old on the 5th!!

*She's getting pretty vocal We do mosty "ooohh" sounds, sometimes "aaaahh"s, back and forth to each other quite frequently.

*She thinks "K-Mart sucks" (i think thats how she'd say it, crediting Dustin Hoffman in Rainman of course), and her parents agree.

*She's a little upset with how the Celtics are playing lately and knows they are capable of more.

* Her mom still sometimes can't believe she's real.

[i had a sweet picture to insert here, but the computer is acting up and i give up. Imagine: sweet picture here]

Poli Poli

We're LOVing the new car. The amount of space is something we're not used to but i think we'll adjust.
we went to poli poli on saturday, one of our favorite places, so brooks could play Frisbee golf with our buddies and his ladies could get some good outside time.

poli poli style picnic. yes, thats a solo cup..

=)

isnt she sweet? ...her first time hanging out with cows.

The "golf" course is behind them here. we forgot the carrier. i said we could wait by the car and hang out, but brooks thought it would be fun to, and he did, carry her all over in her car seat. Its rough terrain, elevation, and naia isnt a mere 10 pounds anymore... anyway, superdad carried her around for over an hour and a half, and she didnt wake up once (even when she was over due to eat). must be the maui mountain air. We had a lot of fun.

Happy New Car

This is Ruby. I always dreamed of buying myself a jeep (and a toyota previa but thats a story for another blog) so when i could, I did. I love her. She loves me too. look what i did to the front right bumper and she forgave me =).

This is the problem: it may look fine, but it was almost impossible maneuvering the car seat in and out.

i've also ALWAYS dreamed of having myself one of these...but really actually seriously dreamed of this. When the above problem arrived, there really was no question.
(this is our angel BEING an angel in the 2nd dealership--day 3)

I had a talk with Ruby (actually while sitting in her, nursing Naia in the parking lot of the dealership) and i'm pretty sure she understood.

so we "traded in" one dream for another.
I am a mom now and am the proud driver of a family fun mobile.
this thing is awesome. we have so much space and privacy, real windows and doors with awesome air =) and since its brand new, no problems to worry about. Its begging to go camping. its also begging for a name. i was talking to my friend about it and though most vehicles are ladies, i think this one here is a boy. I want to come up with something great for him so if anyone has an idea, i'd love to hear it =)

we've already had a couple adventures and i have pictures, but my dreams-come-true (brooks and naia) need me, whose new name is bessie, right now.

Christmas part deux

Forgot to mention... Naia has been PARTYING. We attended FOUR parties this week (we are all tired and have learned to pace ourselves in the future...). Although we didn't get a chance to capture all of these events, i DID get Naia's first girl talk session on digital film. This was christmas night. These are some of our friends' daughter's, or should i say, we are friends with some of naia's friends' parents.

This picture has nothing to do with anything, but i think its funny, so here you go

Naia being cute

we have news, a large purchase, and here's your hint. thats chester, being sentimental. will be back soon, when i get a picture of what i'm talking about =)
