WOW...read only if you have time to kill...

OK I JUST READ OVER THE RANTINGS THAT FOLLOW. I APOLOGIZE AHEAD OF TIME. MY BRAIN IS VERY SCATTERED THESE DAYS AS EVIDENCED BY THE RANDOM RAMBLINGS BELOW. (the baby has taken my brain cells-- thats fine, i just hope i get some of them back, someday) SO, CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED...

if you'd like to see more ridiculously adorable pictures of little miss austin elouise maite archabal, they can found at www.littlearch.blogspot.com

erica and dan and baby are all well and recuperating.

Grandma Lindy =) is up there helping out in every which way, and fielding phone calls. several phone calls from me lately. last night, we sortof watched the vp debate "together", communicating via text message... i use the word communicating loosely here. mostly we were making fun of palin, with the deepest respect of course, you betchya. it was the most fun ive ever had watching something like that. usually these things are frustrating and almost tiring to watch, but i was glued to the screen and my cell phone, as was chester, as was linda in milton, mass, with her phone, and one of her other grandchildren, Mr Bojangles, the very large puppy. cute. Also, i think everyone should make an effort to watch saturday night live this weekend. I haven't actually tried (and succeeded to this in a LONG time, but..) i think it will be great. If you miss it though, i'll probably have a video waiting for you as i have big faith in tina fey...
As far as the actual debate went... i truly listened to both. it just got hard not to have a little fun at a certain point.
....umm, the moderator was great.

Anyway, back to babies. Every time i look at the pictures of ELMA (i like thinking of nicknames-- that would be her initials--nice, huh?), which is very often, I keep getting reminded that, at the end of this marathon, i get one of those little precious angels too!! its not that i forget whats growing inside me. its more that i'm so distracted with the "pleasures" of pregnancy and the excitement and preparation of everything, that sometimes i forget we'll have little toenails to play with and chubby thighs to squeeze, and adorable dirty diapers =) to dispose of. As if i was being impatient BEFORE austin's arrival.... thanks a lot erica...=)

Now, back momentarily, to mobile/cell phones: I believe some of you have heard this, but i shall REPEAT and explain. I want to be clear here:
My mobile phone does NOT, i repeat, DOES NOT work in our house. Yes, i know thats stupid... i just got a new phone and new service and sortof can't take advantage of that.

But, the way i see it, I CAN text message (for reasons unbeknownst to me), and i CAN use the home phone. AND... considering that i am not MOBILE in any way anyway, rather IMmobile, really, nothing about mobility is an issue or deserves mention. Lately, i've realized, i should just be honest. So here goes: I feel like dung nearing 24/7 and though i am VERY VERY VERY VERY excited about all the things going on in our lives these days, i don't always sound cheerful and dont want to come across as UNcheerful. So i blog, i text and i smile on the inside ALL THE TIME. But honestly, I hate being on the phone any way. not anything personal against anyone, its just sortof a "thing" of mine. So there you go.
When I am once again mobile, my mobile can be used more, mostly cause i might be out and about , in places other than the house, like in the mobile sense, in the "entering service area" sense.

So our home phone is great. Just a few reasons:
(1) our phone number hasn't changed since we moved to hawaii...brooks and i share that one, so you might kill two birds with one ring if you go that route. If you've ever had a number for us in hawaii, then you still have it. If you dont have it, ask one of our family members. if you dont know them, email one of us. if you don't know any of our emails, and none of the above are possible for you, then you probably dont know us, and are a blog stalker that just tunes in to see the frightening pictures of whitney and the ever expanding giant peach and that's a little disturbing, but i'll take any fans i can get-- we just definitely dont need to talk on the phone.
(2) our home phone rings. It rings even louder than the cell in fact, it doesn't drop calls, and it doesn't boil the skin covering my cheekbone (in contrast to my above mentioned cell phone which "alerts" me either right after i've missed your call, later that day, or sometimes the next morning, when ever it would like me to know...).
(3) it has a great grip
(4) we have 2 of them, so its easier "find" and answer when they make their noises.
(5) i'd like to 'bring back' the land line. i don't know why no one thinks its cool anymore. i love our twin unidens. they are sleek and stylish, matching, but not identical. they both have their own personality but get along great with others and when one gets tired, and needs a little "charge" if you will, its buddy is more then willing to carry the ringing load for a while and vise versa. They have separate docking stations, in separate rooms, but they always seem to end up side by side, snugglng somewhere cozy, usually with chester watching over them. Really they are great, and should be praised and utilized by callers other than telemarketers. they deserve a better day-to-day than that.

So the craziest thing thing has been happening this morning. occassionally the wind blows and through an open window, a draft comes in, making me, are you sitting?, chilly. i have been sweating for 7+ months. i dont want to jinx it, and i think typing such a word is safer than orating it, so...

I'm giddy and excited. But shh...

Also to be excited about, its FRIDAY, brooks is only working a HALF day, and when he gets home it'll be just in time for game 2 of the sox/angels at angel stadium.

i may have failed to mention that we won game 1. That was great but i was a little preoccupied becoming an aunt and it slipped my mind that you all rely desperately on this blog for your redsox information.
I just dont like winning when we beat vladamir guerrero, my favorite non red socker. Especially this time, cause he made a pretty terrible base running mistake that had a lot to do with the final outcome and, at the end of the game, in between the redsox celebrations, they kept showing his sweet sad mad-at-himself-face. it was hard to watch. So, i'm hoping we win again, just that this time it will have nothing to do with old vladdy....oh and i'm hoping to see a little more hustle out of jason bay in the outfield.

Sitting in Erica's hospital room, I actually DID have time to read this in one sitting all the way through!!! So sweet, funny, and thorough! Love you and your phones!! Even the ones that are cranky. Tell Chester G'ma Lindy may be taking a bath later too...just happy it won't be with Chester and hoping it's not with BO!!

Whitney, that was some major league ramblings, but I loved every word. Keep on keepin' on. I promise to not let Harry Chapin Fleming know about this. He would be most jealous, fashioning himself also as a major league ramlin' dude, too. And with him, jealousy quickly escalates to something no one would want to witness. Love to you all.
